Milmay, NJ - Firefighters operated during the early morning hours Wednesday to secure a hazardous roadway scene after a single-vehicle collision brought down power lines.
At approximately 1:14 a.m. (0114 hours) on September 8, Station 12-4 (Milmay Volunteer Fire Company) was dispatched in Atlantic County for a reported single-car motor vehicle accident.
Arriving on location, the crew aboard Engine 1241 established scene control and evaluated the hazard zone, encountering live power lines brought down across the area as a result of the crash. Firefighters isolated the electrical hazards, secured the perimeter to protect motorists, and remained on scene until utility crews from Atlantic City Electric arrived to de-energize the wires and begin emergency infrastructure repairs.
One occupant involved in the collision refused medical treatment on scene. Responders cleared the area once the utility company took over the site, advising local residents of temporary residual power outages while utility crews completed repairs.
