Large-Diameter Water Strike: South Plainfield Engine 6 Deploys with County LDH Task Force to Major Rubbish Blaze

S Plainfield, NJ - Regional fire companies mobilized specialized, high-volume water supply assets late Sunday night to assist local crews battling a massive commercial rubbish fire.

On August 30, the Middlesex County North West Large Diameter Hose (LDH) Task Force was activated to deploy into the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick in Middlesex County. The task force was called to establish and maintain an uninterrupted, heavy-flow water supply for the Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department as their crews engaged a large, deep-seated rubbish fire requiring continuous master stream operations.

Firefighters operating aboard South Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department’s Engine 6 joined task force partners from River Road Fire Company, North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company, New Market Fire Department, and Lincoln Hose Co. #1. Working in tandem, the mutual aid units laid out miles of large-diameter supply lines, coordinated booster relay pump operations, and tied into distant water mains to ensure working frontline engines had the immense volume and static pressure necessary to suppress the stubborn blaze.
