Ringoes, NJ - Volunteer firefighters and mutual aid partners mounted an aggressive exterior attack to contain a heavy agricultural blaze that fully engulfed a large pole barn on Route 31.

The incident began at approximately 1:38 PM (1338 hours) on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, when the Amwell Valley Fire Company was dispatched to Fire Box 4826 in Hunterdon County for a reported structure fire. First-due units arrived within minutes to find a 30-by-80-foot pole barn completely overwhelmed by flames, prompting command to immediately upgrade the alarm due to the volume of fire and risk of rapid spread.

Responders encountered intense fire conditions, with heavy flames showing from both ends of the large barn and rolling out from under the eaves. Incident command established defensive positions to knock down the bulk of the fire while protecting surrounding exposures from radiant heat.

Apparatus on scene included Engine 48-1 and Tender 48-1, which supplied heavy water flow alongside multiple assisting mutual aid companies. Fire crews operated on the fireground for roughly four and a half hours, battling deep-seated flames, heavy debris, and hot spots before successfully bringing the incident under control.
