SCRANTON, N.Y. (Aug. 23, 2025) — The Scranton Volunteer Fire Company wrapped up its annual Community Days festival over the weekend, highlighting live music, classic cars and a chicken barbecue that drew neighbors and families together.
Organizers said the event has become a late-summer tradition, giving residents a chance to reconnect with friends and community members.
On Friday, however, a “Do Not Enter” street sign and metal stand were stolen between noon and 3 p.m. at the intersection of Lincoln and Ontario, fire officials said. The sign had been donated by Comet Flasher, a longtime supporter of the department.
Officials asked that the sign be returned to the fire station by Wednesday evening with no questions asked to avoid filing a police report. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the fire company’s page.
