AMHERST, N.Y. (Aug. 14, 2025) — Firefighters from North Amherst and Wendelville squared off Thursday evening in a hose line hockey drill, a training exercise modeled after “waterball” competitions.

Crews worked in teams to push a large hockey puck into the opposing goal using hose streams. Officials said the event combined skill practice with a lighthearted atmosphere.

The drill, now in its second year, gave members a chance to practice hose advancement and nozzle techniques in a less intense setting.
