Kingston Volunteers Bolster Emergency Response at Montgomery House Fire After Suspected Lightning Hit

Middlesex, NJ - Fire crews from the Kingston Volunteer Fire Company 1 were dispatched into neighboring Montgomery to provide mutual aid support following a reported residential structure fire.

On the evening of September 1, emergency personnel responded after severe weather moved through Somerset County, triggering reports that a structure had potentially been struck by lightning. First-due units arrived to investigate smoke conditions and evaluate the integrity of the building.

Kingston firefighters augmented on-scene operations by providing critical secondary manpower. Working alongside Montgomery fire companies, personnel assisted with interior and attic checks, opening walls and ceilings with specialized equipment to verify that fire had not extended behind structural voids or insulation.

Thanks to the rapid response and inter-agency coordination, crews successfully contained the hazard, confirmed the structure was safe from hidden fire extension, and placed the incident under control before returning to service.
