NEWSTEAD, NY - A camper and a large debris pile caught fire early Tuesday, September 2nd, on Main Road, drawing a multi-department response, officials said. Newstead chiefs arrived around 4:46 a.m. to find the fire burning behind a property. Mutual aid was requested from Clarence, Clarence Center, Crittenden, Akron, Pembroke, Indian Falls and Swormville fire companies. Crews from Newstead and Clarence laid about 1,800-feet of hose to supply the attack truck with water. Firefighters worked for nearly an hour to extinguish the flames.
