LANCASTER, N.Y. (Aug. 25, 2025) — The Lancaster Fire Department conducted an auto extrication drill Monday morning as crews noted an increase in recent motor vehicle accident responses.
The training allowed firefighters to practice the tools and techniques used to safely remove people from vehicles in emergencies. Officials said the exercise was especially valuable for newer members and junior firefighters working alongside experienced crews.
Department leaders said the preparation ensures firefighters are ready to act quickly and safely when emergencies occur.
The department also continues to recruit new members, including junior firefighters ages 14 to 18, drivers, interior and exterior firefighters, fire police and auxiliary volunteers
