BOWMANSVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 9, 2025) — Fire departments from across the region gathered Tuesday to honor Bowmansville Volunteer Firefighter Ray Hartel, who was laid to rest with a solemn apparatus procession past his firehouse.
Lancaster Fire Department members draped a flag over the Bowmansville station alongside colleagues from Depew. Crews from Millgrove and Crittenden also stood in salute as Hartel’s turnout gear was displayed in tribute.
Officials said the display served as a reminder of Hartel’s service and sacrifice, a tradition in the fire service that underscores the bond among firefighters and their communities.
