BUFFALO, N.Y. (Aug. 13, 2025) — Students in the extended summer program at PS 89 got a hands-on fire safety lesson Wednesday from Buffalo Fire Department Engine 34.

Firefighters demonstrated the “stop, drop and roll” technique and showed how their gear helps keep them safe. Students also toured Engine 34, learning about the equipment used to fight fires, including how a 5-inch hose connects to a hydrant.

Officials said the program was meant to inspire students and reinforce the importance of being prepared in an emergency.
