Teaneck, NJ - Members of Teaneck Firefighters FMBA Local 42, operating with the Teaneck Fire Department, responded on mutual aid to Ridgefield Park for a rapidly escalating structure fire in a four-story multiple dwelling.

Arriving units were assigned to Truck 22 and Battalion 4, integrating into ongoing operations as the incident progressed to a third alarm. Crews were met with heavy fire conditions and an active rescue profile, requiring immediate deployment to upper floors and exterior access points.

The incident, which occurred on 5 September in Bergen County, saw Teaneck firefighters assigned to primary searches, forcible entry, and life-saving operations on the fire escape.

Firefighters successfully removed multiple residents and dogs from the fire escape under urgent conditions while additional crews forced entry to access apartments and search for any remaining occupants. Coordinated interior and exterior operations were critical in ensuring all accessible areas were checked and occupants brought to safety.

Teaneck crews remained engaged throughout the incident, supporting suppression and search efforts as part of the extended alarm assignment, contributing to the safe removal of occupants and stabilization of the fireground.
