Cambridge, MA - Cambridge Fire Department responded to a reported building fire on Robert Road, where crews arrived to find heavy fire showing from the third floor of a three-family residential structure.

On August 13, 2026, under the command of Acting Deputy Chief Joseph Fournier, a second alarm was transmited shortly after arrival to bring additional resources to the scene as fire conditions intensified and extended through the upper floors.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive coordinated attack, working both interior and exterior operations to contain fire spread, protect exposures, and bring the incident under control. Crews operated in a structured incident command system, managing multiple lines and support functions to stabilize the building and limit further damage.

The fire was brought under control in just over an hour, with coordinated efforts helping prevent further extension throughout the multi-family occupancy.

Occupants and two dogs were safely displaced and assisted on scene by the Cambridge Fire Department Office of Emergency Preparedness and the American Red Cross, while multiple partner agencies suported scene managment, including Cambridge Police, EMS services, Inspectional Services, and assisting fire departments.
