PITTSFIELD, Mass. (Aug. 25, 2025) — Pittsfield firefighters spent part of Monday honing techniques for auto extrication during a drill led by Training Captain Arnhold.
Members of C Group Engine 1 and Engine 6 practiced removing vehicle parts using both hand and hydraulic tools. The session emphasized speed, safety and coordination between crews in simulated crash scenarios.
“These drills prepare firefighters for real-world emergencies where every second counts,” fire officials said in a statement.
The training is part of the department’s regular rotation designed to keep members proficient in specialized rescue skills.
