Vacant building fire in Medway contained quickly

MEDWAY, Maine (Aug. 8, 2025) — Firefighters contained a blaze late Friday at a vacant residential building on Pattagumpus Road, officials said.
The Medway Fire Department was dispatched at 10:37 p.m. and arrived within minutes to find heavy fire conditions. Crews began suppression operations and stopped the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
Departments from East Millinocket, Millinocket, Mattawamkeag and Sherman assisted with water supply and fire attack. East Millinocket police, Versant Power and the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office also provided support.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation by the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office.
