LINCOLN, Maine (Aug. 13, 2025) — Lincoln firefighters responded to multiple calls this week, including a large brush fire that burned 20 acres on West Broadway and an ambulance cover assignment in Old Town.

On Tuesday, Lincoln Ambulance 538 was dispatched to cover the Old Town area while local crews battled a multi-unit apartment fire. During that assignment, Lincoln Ambulance handled two medical calls before returning to town.

By Wednesday, Lincoln crews joined firefighters from Central Maine Highlands Fire Department 1, East Millinocket, Greenbush, Milford and the Maine State Forest Service to battle several fires on West Broadway. The largest burned well into the night and was fully contained by Thursday afternoon.

Millinocket Fire provided regional ambulance coverage at the height of the operation. Lincoln firefighters also managed a medical emergency in town and an inter-facility transfer while the wildland fire response was underway.

Officials said hot, dry conditions fueled the spread of the fire. While the cause was not linked to open burning, Lincoln fire officials urged residents to avoid outdoor burning until significant rainfall reduces the fire danger.

Community members and local police assisted by providing water, checking on crews, controlling traffic and using a drone to support operations.
