HILLCREST, N.Y. (Monday, Aug. 25, 2025) — Firefighters from Hillcrest, Suffern and Tallman spent two days training in boat operations as part of efforts to launch the Ramapo Swift Water Rescue Team, officials said.

The training was conducted with the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control and focused on preparing crews to respond to waterway and flooding emergencies.

“This training is another important step in bringing the team into service and ensuring we are ready to protect our community and surrounding areas,” the Hillcrest Fire Company said in a statement.
