Soon after 6:30 a.m. this morning, Cayuga County 911 dispatched Genoa Rescue, Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, Inc., and automatic mutual aid from the King Ferry Fire Department to the intersection of Stewarts Corners Road and Myers Road for a reported two-car motor vehicle accident with possible serious injuries.
Genoa Cars 1, 2, 3, 4, and Engine 2 responded. On arrival, the first chief confirmed the severity of the crash, requested a medevac to launch, called for a second ALS ambulance, and activated all available Genoa manpower.
One patient was able to self-extricate, while a second was found partially ejected and required extrication. Crews worked quickly to free the patient, provide emergency medical care, and secure hazards from both vehicles.
Assisting on scene were LifeNet of New York, Locke Fire & Rescue, Four Town Ambulance, Long Hill Chiefs, and the New York State Police. Thanks to strong teamwork, all patients were transported, hazards mitigated, and units returned to service shortly after 8 a.m.
The Genoa Fire Department extends its gratitude to all agencies and responders for their coordinated efforts.
