On Monday night, the Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department (PVFD) conducted a training exercise at Bryant Dormitory on the Kimball Union Academy campus.
Firefighters practiced stretching a pre-connected 1¾-inch hose line to the fifth floor, simulating conditions for attacking a fire in any of the dormitory’s rooms. At the same time, another crew deployed the department’s 110-foot ladder to the top floor, preparing for the possibility of a high-level rescue.
Department officials thanked the KUA facilities staff for providing access to the building, noting that realistic training opportunities like this ensure crews are ready to protect both the school and the wider community.
