Rapid Multi Agency Response Contains Wind Driven Brush Fire
Antrim, NH - Antrim Fire and Ambulance responded to a brush fire behind a barn on Concord Street, where crews arrived to find the fire had grown rapidly and was being pushed across a field by the wind. The incident was upgraded to a first alarm, bringing in mutual aid from neighboring departments.
Firefighters made a direct attack on the advancing fire and quickly knocked down the main body before focusing on areas that had spread into the woods. A natural low-lying water area helped act as a fire break, aiding containment efforts. Crews brought the fire under control and completed mop-up operations in just over an hour, preventing further spread.
Officials noted that dry conditions have increased the risk of brush fires, with light fuels able to ignite and spread quickly.
