LITCHFIELD, Conn. (Thursday, July 31, 2025) — A fallen tree brought down power lines on Route 202 Thursday, sparking a small grass fire and blocking traffic, officials said.

Litchfield Fire was dispatched at 11:54 a.m. to the area near Bertoli Drive, where crews found the tree resting on primary wires and two lanes closed. Firefighters shut down the road and established alternating traffic while monitoring the fire.

Once power was cut and the fire extinguished, the scene was turned over to Eversource for tree removal and line repairs.

The roadway was fully reopened by about 1:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
