In response to the growing threat of brush and forest fires across Connecticut, the Danbury Fire Department has introduced a new specialized unit, Brush 20. This vehicle was fully specified, designed, built, and outfitted by the department’s Apparatus Division, led by Captain D.J. Brown and Master Mechanic Ken Gode.
Brush 20 made its first official response today at Tarrywile Park, where firefighters deployed backpack pump-tanks, hiked 300 feet into the woods, and quickly extinguished a small brush fire.
Beyond wildfire response, Brush 20 is equipped to tow the department’s Off-Road UTV Polaris Ranger and small rescue boats, adding versatility to its role in firefighting and rescue operations.
