CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025) — Firefighters from Charlestown joined departments across the Rhode Island Southern Firefighters League on Tuesday for classroom training on rural water supply and tanker shuttle operations.

The session, hosted by the Richmond Carolina Fire Department, was led by Chief Barber and Deputy Chief Barber. It focused on techniques used to establish water supply in areas without fire hydrants, where departments often rely on tanker shuttles to deliver water to fire scenes.

Departments will put the lessons into practice later this week during the second part of the training, which will include field exercises.

Officials thanked the Richmond Carolina Fire Department for hosting and noted that regional cooperation strengthens preparedness across communities.
