Fire damages shed and garage on Lord Street in Dunkirk

DUNKIRK, N.Y. (Friday, Aug. 1, 2025) — Firefighters in Dunkirk brought a shed and detached garage fire under control Friday after flames spread behind a Lord Street residence, officials said.
The Dunkirk Fire Department was dispatched at 11:57 a.m. to a reported garage fire at 116 Bucknor St. Crews arrived to find a shed burning behind 117 Lord St., with flames extending to a nearby detached garage.
Multiple hose lines and tools were used to knock down the blaze. Firefighters from Fredonia assisted, along with Alstar EMS, Dunkirk police and city code enforcement.
No injuries were reported. City and Chautauqua County fire investigators are investigating the cause.
