Dunkirk firefighters extinguish balcony fire at Lincoln Arms Apartments
DUNKIRK, N.Y. (Monday, Aug. 25, 2025) — Firefighters in Dunkirk quickly put out a smoldering balcony fire Monday afternoon at the Lincoln Arms Apartments after reports of occupants trapped, officials said.
The call came in at 4:45 p.m. for a fire on the second floor of the 430 Main St. complex. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from a rear balcony, according to the City of Dunkirk Fire Department.
Firefighters forced entry into Apartment 203, where they located the resident and extinguished the smoldering fire. The resident was not injured. Crews used fans to clear smoke from the building.
Dunkirk police and ALSTAR EMS assisted at the scene. Crews remained on site for about 30 minutes.
The cause was determined to be careless discarding of smoking material.
