AURELIUS, N.Y. (Friday, Aug. 22, 2025) — Firefighters in Aurelius responded Friday afternoon after a fallen tree brought down primary wires, causing arcing and a small ground fire, officials said.
The call came in at 4:36 p.m. Crews were unable to fully extinguish the fire until NYSEG arrived to secure the lines, according to the Aurelius Volunteer Fire Department.
While on scene, firefighters were also dispatched to a nearby residence where a power outage had affected a resident’s oxygen machine.
Engines 1 and 2, Squads 1 and 2, and the duty chief all responded. No injuries were reported.
