Jamestown Fire Department Rescues Woman and Dog from Rocks at Beavertail State Park
Wednesday, 6 August 2025, at 10:21 AM – The Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department (JFD) responded to Beavertail State Park for a report of a female and her dog trapped on the rocks between Lot #1 and Lot #2.
First-arriving crews made contact with the original caller, who was positioned in a vessel just offshore and helped guide responders to the victim’s exact location. Firefighters assisted both the woman and her dog to safety without incident.
The victim was evaluated by EMS at the scene but declined further medical treatment.
In accordance with JFD protocols for state park incidents, multiple resources were dispatched to prepare for all possible outcomes. Along with EMS and initial land-based fire companies, Drone 1, Marine 1, and UTV-1 were also activated. While these assets were not ultimately required, they stood ready to support operations if needed.
The JFD run card for the incident included: C1, C5, R1, L1, D1, M1, and UTV-1.
Officials emphasized the importance of rapid, multi-discipline response in state park emergencies to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.
