Westerly, R.I. — September 27 — The Westerly Fire Department joined in support of the RI Fire Chiefs Honor Flight today, helping veterans as they traveled through T.F. Green Airport. Volunteers arrived early to assist with parking, guiding guests toward ticketing gates, and aiding those needing help transferring from the lot into the terminal. Later, Westerly’s team stood as part of an honor guard alongside firefighters, active military, police officers, and community members. They paid tribute to Joseph Potter, a Korean War veteran and Past Moderator of the department, and his grandson, Firefighter Paul Grube, as they departed on Honor Flight “Justice.” ?All veterans on the flight were thanked by the department, which also wished them a memorable day in Washington, D.C.
