Disaster averted at gas pumps in Mastic

Mastic N.Y. – On Sunday August 15th at about 9:48 am Mastic Fire Department was activated for a report of a car fire at Montauk Native Gas (182 Poospatuck Ln Mastic ). 1st responding officers were Assistant Chief Gene Martucci (5-12-31) & Captain Steve JanusKiewicz ( 5-12-50) who was the duty officer. Fire-Com advised that they were receiving multiple calls for a vehicle that was on fire at the pumps of the station. On arrival Captain Januskiewicz and Assistant chief Martucci found that the fire was knocked down. The first due engine crew was requested to pull the boaster line to the front of the vehicle and hit the engine compartment with additional water to make sure there was no hotspots / pockets of hidden fire. Fire Police blocked off the road while FD members operated. Crews were back in service in about 30 Minutes.
