ROCKLEIGH, NJ - A four-alarm fire struck the Rockleigh, a popular catering venue at 26 Paris Ave. in Rockleigh, as a wedding reception was being held on August 25th.
The fire started in a boiler room and quickly spread upward to the second floor and then through the roof. All wedding guests and staff were safely evacuated from the sprawling banquet hall building. Multiple alarms were called in rapid succession as black smoke and visible fire greeted the first arriving companies. Numerous lines were stretched inside and companies soon had the fire knocked down, but extensive opening up and checking for extension was necessary.
No injuries were reported, and the reception will be rescheduled for a later date.
