Durham, ME - A fast, coordinated multi-agency response prevented an outbuilding blaze from turning into a dangerous brush fire late in the day.

The emergency call went out late in the afternoon on August 15, 2026, dispatching mutual aid resources across Androscoggin County to assist the Lisbon Fire Department. Initial reports indicated an active fire engulfing a storage shed, with flames threatening to jump the perimeter and extend into the neighboring woodline.

Recognizing the potential wildfire hazard, Durham Fire Rescue was dispatched alongside the Sabattus Fire Department to bolster on-scene manpower and equipment. Durham responded promptly with Engine 22, integrating into operations to help knock down the remaining fire.

Once the main body of flames was suppressed, crews conducted extensive overhaul operations, breaking apart smoldering debris and soaking hot spots to ensure the fire could not rekindle or threaten the surrounding forest.
