Riverdale Firefighters Respond to Route 23 Crash

RIVERDALE, NJ — August 1, 2026 — On Saturday, the Riverdale Fire Department responded to a car accident on Route 23 south close to the I-287 interchange.
Squad 33, J. Regeling Jr., and Chief 30 arrived at the scene of the collision. Squad 33 was positioned to offer a lane block and early notice for incoming vehicles while emergency operations continued because the accident impacted multiple highway lanes.
According to the agency, the fire crew stayed put until EMS finished its work and the tow service was able to remove the involved automobiles.
The Riverdale Fire Department did not report any fire involvement, extrication operations, firefighter injuries or civilian injuries in its public account of the incident.
No additional fire departments were identified as responding to the crash, and no mutual-aid fire companies have been added to the story.
