Three injured in head-on crash in Upper Township

UPPER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sunday, July 27, 2025) — Three people were injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision in the Palermo section of Upper Township, officials said.
The crash occurred around 12:25 p.m. on the 800 block of South Shore Road. Firefighters arrived to find one patient trapped inside a vehicle, another on the ground outside a second vehicle and a third who had self-extricated, according to the Marmora Volunteer Fire Company.
Two paramedic units from AtlantiCare were requested, along with a medical helicopter for the entrapped patient. An Ocean City Fire Department engine handled the landing zone while an Ocean City ambulance transported one of the patients.
All three patients were transported to hospitals by ground or air. No injuries to emergency personnel were reported.
The scene was cleared after about an hour and a half. New Jersey State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
