Members of the Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 were dispatched Tuesday night to Paterson as part of a regional strike team assisting with a water emergency caused by a ruptured main, officials said.
The call came at about 9:15 p.m. Aug. 12. Engine 1512 and its crew, led by Bargaintown Lt. Josh Treat, joined firefighters from the 177th, Weekstown, Richland and Mullica Township departments to provide coverage as Paterson’s strained water system continues to affect firefighting operations.
Officials said the strike teams are helping to ensure fire protection and emergency services while the city addresses the crisis. Cardiff fire officials urged safety for all members deployed, saying crews are facing “difficult conditions” as they assist Paterson.
