Bernardston, MA. — July 16 — A reported brush fire on West Gill Road in Gill prompted the Bernardston Fire Department to provide mutual help. Brush 1 firefighters assisted in containing the fire and limiting its spread when Car 1 and Brush 1 responded. Before firemen could completely put out the fire, Eversource technicians had to react and turn off power since power lines were implicated.

To safely handle the electrical hazard, command officials, utility workers, and fire units had to work together. After completing their assignment, Bernardston firefighters went back to work. In the event of brush fires and other calamities, the response demonstrated the importance of mutual help in assisting nearby departments.
