Westerly, R.I. — August 6 — When a car got into the Weekapaug Breachway, the Watch Hill Fire Department helped the Misquamicut Fire Department. To assist with the operation, three chiefs, Marine 10, and other Watch Hill employes arrived. Marine 10 was put into service in 2017 and serves as the department's main response vessel for crises on nearby waterways.
The Misquamicut region includes the Weekapaug Breachway, which links Winnapaug Pond with Block Island Sound. Fire stations in the Westerly area frequently collaborate on water rescues and other crises, and this mutual-aid system was evident in the reaction.
