On August 1, at around 6:30 a.m., the FDNY responded to a reported apartment fire at 2926 W. 25th St. in Brooklyn.

Firefighters' search was hampered by the dense debris. Matthew Adams, a probationary firefighter from Ladder 166, went into the apartment, found a resident, and pulled the victim out of the flames. The victim was sent to a nearby hospital.

One firefighter had minor injuries. The all-hands fire was contained in about an hour after 38 units—a total of 120 fire and EMS personnel—responded.
