Genoa, N.Y. — July 15 — Shortly after noon, the Genoa Volunteer incident Department was called to a reported incident at a dairy facility on Route 34. In response, King Ferry, Moravia, and Southern Cayuga Instant Aid provided mutual aid to Car 1, Engine 1, and Tanker 1. In an overhead crawl space above an equipment room, crews discovered a smoldering fire. Nearby rafters and trash had caught fire due to an overheated vacuum pump exhaust.

Before firefighters arrived, workers evacuated the building, started suppression operations, and dialed 911. After putting out the last of the fire, Genoa workers checked for extension using a thermal imaging camera. Units were put back into service once no more fire was discovered.
