Emergency crews responded to a fire at 142 Big Hollow Road in the Town of Sanford, New York, on August 12, 2026, after flames broke out while a previously damaged residence was being demolished. The Deposit Fire Department was the primary responding fire agency, with Eastern Broome Emergency Services providing EMS support. Firefighters quickly began suppression operations and brought the fire under control within approximately five to 10 minutes. Investigators believe heat generated while cutting wood during demolition work accidentally ignited the fire. The property had previously been heavily damaged by a separate fire in November 2025.
