This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Leesport, PA. — July 14 — When a field fire endangered a nearby timber line, Union Fire Company #1 of Leesport dispatched Engine 37 and Tanker 37 to help Muhlenberg Township Fire & Rescue 66 and other agencies. Additional crew from Utility 37 and Utility 37-1 also responded. Crews helped with overhaul operations, water delivery for brush trucks and ATVs, and extinguishment.

After an hour or so, the units were released. Operating out of 18 E. Wall St., the organization offered Leesport and the surrounding areas volunteer fire protection and mutual help. The response showed how important it is to have more equipment, workers, and water resources when fighting field fires.
