On August 7, at around 10:45 a.m., Adams Area Fire District Station 42 responded to a tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 76. Rescue 42 and Engine 42 were dispatched to the scene and came to help.
Engine 42 from Station 185 arrived soon after Engine 2 and started fighting the fire by deploying a bumper line. To provide a water supply for the engines running at the scene, several tankers were called in.
Before going back to work, crews stayed on the scene for around two hours. Coordinated firefighting and water supply activities involving several departments were necessary for the response. In Mars, Pennsylvania, Station 42 is designated as the Jimmy Ellis Firehouse by the Adams Area Fire District.
