Excelsior Fire Company Faces Three Fatal Crashes in Three Weeks

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

After responding to two deadly car incidents over the week—bringing the station's total to three fatal crashes in three weeks—the Excelsior Fire Company took stock of a challenging time.

Every reaction, according to the department, involves volunteers who give up their personal lives, careers, and families to help others; they frequently return to work with little sleep. Even if firefighters receive emergency operations training, the psychological effects of fatal occurrences can persist long after the calls are over.

Excelsior Fire Company encouraged the public to remember firefighters, dispatchers, EMS staff, police enforcement, coroners, and towing crews as well as to show support for the impacted families. Additionally, the department urged residents to be patient and supportive of one another.
