Structure Fire on Robert Street Self-Extinguishes Before Arrival

Westport, MA - The Westport Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Robert Street, where the fire had self-extinguished prior to arrival, likely due to an electrical issue.

Firefighters encountered significant smoke and soot damage throughout the home and conducted ventilation operations to remove smoke and carbon monoxide. Crews also checked for extension within the walls and attic to ensure the fire had not spread.

A dog inside the home suffered smoke inhalation but is expected to recover. The department’s EMA Division and the American Red Cross are assisting the displaced occupants, while Tiverton Fire Department provided mutual aid support.
