Tiverton Engine 3 Assisted at Westport Structure Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Tiverton, R.I. — July 24 — Members of West Greenwich Vol Fire Co. No. 1 and Hope-Jackson Fire Co. participated in a joint training exercise. Finding the fire's seat and any concealed extensions, looking for victims before the hose line, controlling the fire, and advancing hose lines on a fireground were the main goals of the simulation. Crews practiced coordinating interior operations while performing standard fireground tasks.

During the training, firefighters from both departments had the opportunity to work together and improve their search, communication, and hose-line operations. Joint exercises like this one helped departments keep prepared and strengthen working relationships prior to responding collectively to actual emergency situations in neighboring cities.
