On July 31, the Crystal Lake Fire Department, Somers Fire Department, and Ellington Ambulance assisted the Ellington Volunteer Fire Department in responding to a structure fire on Sprucewood Drive.

Additional units from the Broad Brook Fire Department, Vernon Fire Department, and Tolland Fire Department were brought in as the situation was elevated to a multi-alarm response. Around 2:25 p.m., firefighters put out the fire and stayed on the scene to do overhaul operations.

There were no reported injuries despite the displacement of two passengers. While crews worked at the incident, mutual aid agencies in Ellington also offered coverage. The agency expressed gratitude to all supporting agencies for their assistance and response.
