At 1:25 a.m. on July 24, the New London Fire Department responded on mutual aid to a structure fire in Georges Mills.

Following concerns that a person might still be inside the house, New London Engine 1, with a crew of three, arrived and set up a supply line before joining the initial inside fire attack. Sunapee Command requested more people and water supply resources as the situation worsened, upgrading the response to a third-alarm fire.

All of the residents made it out safely, however one person had severe burn injuries. Later, a dead dog was discovered inside the house. Around 5:45 a.m., new London workers went back to work.
