Quick Action Limits Electrical Fire at Woodcrest Village

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On July 22, at around 9:50 a.m., the New London Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation at Woodcrest Village.

Firefighters were informed that smoke was coming from the laundry area when they arrived. Crews discovered that a light fixture above the washing machines had caught fire. The fire had previously been put out by a staff member using a portable fire extinguisher, limiting possible water damage and keeping a neighboring sprinkler head from being activated.

Firefighters cleaned the scene, used fans to air the area, and looked for fire extension. By 10:19 a.m., every unit was back in operation.
