Ledyard, CT. — July 6 — The Ledyard Fire Company, Fairway Drive, responded to a working structure fire on South Glenwoods Road in the town's Gales Ferry neighborhood. As more mutual aid organizations arrived to assist with the situation, firefighters arrived and started suppression operations. In addition to protecting surrounding houses and conducting searches of the building, crews sought to confine the fire.

In order to ensure emergency response throughout the region, mutual assistance departments also offered station coverage. Working fire assignments help assure safe and efficient operations by bringing extra personnel and equipment to major events. Southeastern Connecticut fire departments have excellent regional ties, which were reflected in the coordinated response.
