Biddeford Firefighters Work Unusual EMS Call

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BIDDEFORD, MAINE (YORK COUNTY) - Around 1100 hours on the morning of Thursday, August 4, 2022 the Biddeford Fire Department responded to a medical emergency on Basket Island, in the Hills Beach section of the City. Ambulance-10, Engine-26, Car-1 and Utility-4 with the Ranger responded to the scene.

Companies accessed the patient via a low tide sand bar off of Surf Avenue. First arriving companies walked to the island to access and evaluate the patient. The Ranger 6x6 responded to the island via the sand bar and was able to remove the patient to EMS-10. The timing of the incident proved useful, because if the tide was high at the time of the incident, a boat would need to be deployed to access the patient on the island.
