Providence Canteen Supported Warwick Working Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Warwick, R.I. — July 4 — Canteen 1 of the Special Signal Fire Association/Providence Canteen responded to a working structure fire at 190 Harrison Ave. to provide rehabilitation services for firefighters operating at the scene.

As Warwick firefighters conducted suppression and overhaul operations, Canteen 1 personnel provided hydration, refreshments and other rehabilitation support to emergency personnel. The unit remained at the scene to assist firefighters as operations continued.

Fireground rehabilitation provides responders with an opportunity to rest, rehydrate and recover during extended emergency operations. The response at Harrison Avenue demonstrated the supporting role specialized rehabilitation units can provide while firefighters work to bring an incident under control.
