Firefighters from all six West Milford companies and surrounding mutual-aid departments operated at a three-alarm house fire that was well involved when the first companies arrived.
The fire broke out shortly before noon on July 27, 2026, at 357 Oak Ridge Road in West Milford, New Jersey. No residents were home at the time, and neighbors and passersby removed two dogs from the residence before firefighters arrived.
First-arriving companies encountered a fully involved structure with radiant heat affecting the Bravo exposure. Handlines were deployed to protect the neighboring residence while crews worked the main fire. All six West Milford Township fire companies responded, along with mutual-aid resources from surrounding communities.
One firefighter was transported to a hospital for heat exhaustion. A second firefighter sustained minor burns to the ears and neck and was treated at the scene. No civilian injuries were reported, and both dogs survived.
The home was destroyed and the neighboring residence sustained radiant-heat damage. The cause remained under investigation by the West Milford Fire Marshal's Office.
